LifeSlice is a minimalist OS X application that can record statistics about your activity and helps you visualize details about your daily performance. The app comes with a built-in data browser that can switch between daily and monthly views.
The LifeSlice application runs in the background and automatically records details about how many words you have typed, the number of pressed keys, how many times you have used the delete key or various hotkeys, switches between apps, clicks, drags, or scrolls. LifeSlice can also track the distance covered by your mouse.
For LifeSlice to correctly record this data, you must make sure you have moved the utility to your Applications folder: it will not gather all the metrics if you try to run it from the DMG volume.
Note that LifeSlice comes with a default schedule that will automatically capture all these statistics at certain intervals, but you can also manually capture slices via the LifeSlice status bar menu. The utility allows you to preview and delete the latest grabbed slice.
A LifeSlice grab records the values for all the monitored metrics, but also captures a screenshot and a webcam shot. In the LifeSlice viewer, you can decide which one you want to see.
The default Slice Browser comes with a daily and a monthly view and allows you to visualize all the collected information in a streamlined manner.
In the daily view, the entries are organized by hour, while the monthly panel enables you to compare shots taken at the same time on different days. At the same time, the app automatically generates graphs depicting the other statistics.
To conclude, LifeSlice can be used to periodically capture statistical information about your activity. The resulting graph can give you an idea about your overall day to day performance.
