Adds a small and very hard to ignore clock to your Mac's dock, highly useful for keeping track of the time you've worked on the current task. #Dock clock #Analog clock #UNIX clock #Clock #Dock #UNIX
Despite macOS featuring a built-in clock for ages on the right side of the menu bar, we've always felt that something was missing. That was the case until we found Clock mini, a small yet quite useful little analog clock application which lives in your Mac's dock.
Even though the system clock can also be configured to display time in analog format, it isn't as helpful as the one Clock mini adds in your dock because it is very tiny and this makes it almost unreadable. Moreover, having the time displayed in digital form isn't as effective as looking at an analog clock face.
As its name says, Clock mini is designed from the ground up with a single purpose in mind: to let you know where you are throughout the day with a quick glance. And let's be honest, given how many times we all look down at the macOS dock each day, you're bound to give it at least a few glimpses each hour.
Besides that, having Clock mini running in your dock overcomes one of macOS clock's most significant shortcomings: the fact that we all ignore it given its position on the screen.
Once installed on your Mac, Clock mini adds a miniature clock face in your dock which two themes, a light, and a dark one. You can quickly switch between them by clicking on the clock icon, and you can also set the clock to display hour numbers or just the clock hands if you want a more minimal look.
At the moment, when hovering over Clock mini's dock icon you will only get the name of the app as a tool-tip, but we're sure that customizing that to show the current time would make many of its current users happier.
When right-clicking the dock icon, the Clock mini app also displays the current time in full date format, as a UNIX timestamp, as well as the GMT/ UTC reference time for those willing to do some quick mathematics and get the time in another time zone.
Besides its elegant interface Clock mini also features another small touch which makes even more at home on a Mac, namely the fact that it follows the naming scheme of Apple's line of hardware, i.e., the Mac mini and the iPad mini.
Everything considered Clock mini is not a complex macOS application, but it checks all the boxes to make it a must-have for users who want to stay on course throughout the day and keep track of their time with a quick glance at their Mac's dock.
On the other hand, if you're looking for a clock app with complex theming capabilities and a vast collection of added bells and whistles, Clock mini is not what you're looking for.
