Automate time tracking based on a series of user-defined rules, and focus on your work without having to start and stop timers when switching to a different task. #Time Tracking #Auto Tracking #Task Timer #Auto-tracking #Autotracking #Timer
You won’t have too many problems finding an app that can help you track time, but most of them require you to manually start and stop the timer whenever you take a break or switch to a different task. If efficiency is what you’re going for, that just won’t do.
Klokki is yet another time tracker, but with a twist – it starts and stops timing automatically, based on a set of rules defined by the user. After configuring it, you won’t ever have to manage the timer yourself, allowing you to focus on more important things.
Since this is the program’s defining feature, we’ll start here. Essentially, Klokki can manage timers automatically based on a few parameters: application launches, active applications, website URLs, open files, window titles and so on.
If, for instance, a certain application has been launched, or is in focus, the timer will start. You can also combine rules so that, for example, the app will only track time if your browser is active and you have opened a specific website.
Klokki can be accessed directly from the menu bar, where the current timer will be visible. You can even start and pause the timer directly from the menu bar icon.
Tasks can be organized into folders or left on their own, and all items can be color coded for easier identification. If you’re done with a certain task, you can archive it to minimize clutter.
Keeping track of what you’ve done today isn’t too difficult, but you can’t be expected to remember exactly what you’ve worked on in the past few weeks or months.
Thankfully, the app stores all your time tracking data and lets you filter the unimportant stuff in order to single out exactly what you’re interested in. The information can even be visualized as a bar chart.
Time trackers are designed to help you stay organized and efficient, but they may have the opposite effect if they are too difficult to manage. Klokki is a wonderful alternative to most of these apps, as it can automate time tracking and let you concentrate on what’s actually important.
