Hyperfocused For Mac

With so many distractions all around us, especially when working from home, staying focused is getting to be a real challenge. You’re always one click away from something more fun than work, and self-control can only do so much.

Hyperfocused is a tiny app meant to help you stay focused, while also making it easier to set up workspaces for various tasks. It can quickly launch and arrange apps across all your monitors, and at the same time, block websites and applications that can distract you from your work.

Essentially, you can specify which apps should be launched or brought to the foreground, and how they should be arranged on your screens. A window can occupy the whole screen, half, or a quarter, but you can’t define custom dimensions for each application.

Interestingly, it’s also possible to add Shortcuts to the mix, letting you launch any automation you’ve created as soon as the profile is activated.

When nothing else works, straight-up blocking things that interfere with your productivity is always an option. Hyperfocused allows you to specify which websites and apps shouldn’t be accessible while a profile is active. Some common websites can be added to the list with one click.

If you try to launch a blocked app, it will be closed immediately. Try to access a blocked website, and a message will be displayed in the browser letting you know that it’s restricted. This works with Safari and Chrome, but not Firefox.

On the whole, Hyperfocused does a great job. It lets you create profiles for various workflows and block distractions in the process. It isn’t all that cheap, though, and some features could be refined. The ability to customize window size and position is at the top of the list, followed by a website blocker that works in Firefox as well.
