HTMLtoMD is a minimalist macOS application designed to help you convert HTML files to Markdown documents with minimal effort. The utility can process local HTML files, or can grab and convert entire websites.

The HTMLtoMD user interface is represented by a single window where you get to input the source URL, and start, pause, or simply monitor the conversion process.

However, once started, the conversion cannot be stopped, you can only pause it: crawling and converting an entire website can take some time, so you must be patient.

At the same time, the window’s main area is reserved for viewing the newly created Markdown file. Moreover, via a simple checkbox, you can specify if you want to process the entire website, or only the current page.

HTMLtoMD enables you to convert HTML files that are stored locally: use the File menu, or the Command + O hotkey to import the source document.

HTMLtoMD is a great tool to have around if you want to have access to the text content of a HTML page: the app will convert the code to Markdow, while preserving the included links and images (inline text with the absolute URLs attached). This way, you can archive the website’s content without needing too much space.

Noteworthy is that the HTMLtoMD application is still under development, and that it does not integrate basic functions, such as the possibility to export the Markdown data. In spite of that, you can still copy the document to your pasteboard and save it to a new file via a third party application.
