Find 32-bit or Intel-only applications on your system, look for possible updates, and determine how much it would cost to upgrade them. #App Architecture #Application Info #App Scanner #Architecture #64-bit #32-bit
Many apps still have not been updated to support Apple Silicon processors, and some are still 32-bit, which won’t even run on recent versions of macOS. Eventually, they will need to be updated or replaced.
Go64 helps you understand exactly how many of your apps are optimized for your processor’s architecture, and how many run under Rosetta 2 and won’t make the most of your CPU. If you still have 32-bit apps, you can find those as well and figure out how to replace them.
Initially, Go64 will run a full scan of your startup disk in order to locate your applications. Other disks can also be scanned on demand, but locations not indexed by Spotlight will always be excluded.
When the scan is completed, you’ll see a list of all your apps, together with helpful details, such as their version, architecture, last use date, and website. You can filter them based on architecture to single out the ones you’re interested in.
Now comes the hard part of figuring out what to do with outdated applications. Go64 provides an easy way to visit their websites and search for a newer version, assuming one is available.
It’s possible that a more recent version of an older app requires a paid upgrade, and the cost may add up if several require updates. To get a good idea of how much you need to pay, you can set the upgrade cost for each one and let the app add them up.
Although originally designed for identifying 32-bit apps, Go64 works just as well for finding software that doesn’t run natively on Apple Silicon. Some will likely be updated, but others will not, and this app can help you pick them out and decide what to do next.
