Forismatic For Mac

Forismatic is a streamlined and elegant Mac OS X application that provides a variety of inspiring quotes on your screen. The app works in multiple modes and provides expressions that are sometimes funny, sometimes witty and other times thought-provoking.

The app lives on your menu bar and displays a simple panel with all the available options. Three view modes are available: “Inspire Me”, “Spark of an Idea” and “Relaxation mode”. What’s more, you can choose to activate one of these modes with just a click on the menu bar icon by configuring this option via the preferences.

The Inspire Me mode is full-screen and displays the quote, along with the author, an option to change the quote and to share it on Facebook or Twitter. In the Spark of an Idea mode, the phrase and author are displayed in a compact panel at the top right corner of the screen.

As for the Relaxation mode, it provides a transparent interface on the whole screen and displays quotes periodically. Apart from this, this mode also tracks your relaxation time, so you know how much you have until you get back to work.

Forismatic also provides a good number of options in its Preferences window. You can change the quote’s language to Russian or English, change the behavior when left clicking on the menu icon, interval of changing quotes in the Relaxation mode and the way ideas are displayed in the Spark of an Idea mode.

On the whole, Forismatic is a great app that provides an extensive resource of inspirational quotes on your desktop. It comes free of charge and its size is barely noticeable. Note, however, that version 1.4 does not work on Mac OS X 10.9.1.
