EyeSaver For Mac

EyeSaver is a minimalist OS X application designed to help you protect your eyesight during long working sessions in front of the computer. The app comes with predefined timers and periodically covers the screen to prompt you to avert your eyes.

EyeSaver takes a new approach and tries to make the user take short brakes from looking at the screen without interrupting its workflow for too long, or making it deal with annoying prompts.

The utility comes with predefined timers, and instead of announcing the user is time to rest, just fades the screen for a period of 20 seconds. This is the time when the person that is in front of the computer should look away, hence resting its vision.

After the break period is over, the screen goes back to normal, without requiring any user interaction. However, the EyeSaver fader screen is not completely opaque, so the desktop content is still visible.

The EyeSaver application rests in the status bar, and enables you to quickly start or stop the timers via its menu. Worth mentioning is that EyeSaver does not integrate any customization options, neither for the timers nor for the screen shader.

Just select one of the predefined timers that come with EyeSaver by default: 10, 20, 30, or 60 minutes. EyeSaver also integrates a Delay function, that has its own time presets: 40 minutes, 1 to 5 hours, or 1 to 3 days.

EyeSaver creates 20 seconds eye resting sessions at certain intervals in order to make sure you are preserving your eyesight intact.

The app simply puts a darker shade upon your screen to let you know is time to look away, and takes everything back to normal without any user interaction.
