Navigating to the System Preferences’ Display panel to change your screen resolution can be rather time-consuming, especially if you need to perform this action multiple times.
EasyRes is a small status bar menulet that helps you manage the screen resolution for all connected displays and also enables you to preview the adjustment before activating the respective profile.
Upon launch, EasyRes places a menulet icon in your status bar, and once you activate its panel, you get to see the connected displays, together with general information about the model and size.
EasyRes can work with all the connected displays and comes with a list of predefined resolution configurations that can be applied with a simple mouse click. For each configuration, you get to see the resolution pixel size together with the refresh rate.
At the same time, you have the option to assign custom labels to each entry. Just navigate to the Edit Labels panel and input the text you want to associate (you have the possibility to hide the tags without deleting them).
Note that you get to preview the resolution change effects in the associated thumbnail, but EasyRes operates the modification immediately once you click on one of the built-in presets.
For your convenience, EasyRes also keeps track of the most recently used resolution presets, so if you want to go back to an individual preset is relatively easy.
Note that you get to decide how many used resolution should be preserved in the menu (the default value is 3) in the EasyRes Preferences window.
EasyRes is a great tool to have around if you need to quickly change the screen resolution, especially if you are working with multiple displays. In fact, EasyRes brings to the table additional resolution sizes that are not included in the System Preferences.
Beside the status bar menulet, EasyRes also comes with a Notification Center widget that can integrate into the Today panel and delivers the same functions. This is very useful if you don’t want to clutter your status bar.
