Easy Screen OCR For Mac

Easy Screen OCR is a low-key and Google OCR-powered macOS application designed with a single purpose in mind: to make it as simple as possible to convert text from screenshots into editable content.

To start with, it is important to mention that Easy Screen OCR will only work if your Mac has an active Internet connection to be able to send and receive data to and from Google's cloud OCR service.

Easy Screen OCR is a streamlined tool which stays out of your way in your Mac's status bar and will only appear once you summon it using the pre-defined keyboard shortcut or a custom one you set.

Once activated using the hotkey, the app allows you to either pick a window to screenshot or choose a specific area by dragging the mouse pointer.

However, even though Easy Screen OCR should, in theory, allow you to select the window you want to capture, it will snapshot the area of that window on screen exactly as it is displayed, instead of the actual window's contents.

After it captures the image, Easy Screen OCR will display it within its OCR interface where you can rapidly grab the text in the screenshot by clicking the OCR button at the bottom of the window.

Moreover, it also makes it possible to save the snapshot you take as a PNG and PDF file on your Mac's hard drive, and given that Google's OCR service is the one that does all the heavy lifting for Easy Screen OCR, the app allows you to capture text from 100+ languages.

Although it works like a charm, Easy Screen OCR does come with its share of issues. For example, if you take a screenshot with a lot of text content, the Text will not allow you to scroll through the text Easy Screen OCR has captured since the text area does not feature with scroll-bars.

Having Easy Screen OCR on your Mac is definitely one of the easiest ways to transform any text content from a screenshot into editable content despite some of the issues we've mentioned above.
