Makes it simple to change the macOS dock's position on screen, to enable dock hiding and and to customize its hiding animation delay and speed #Dock position #Hide dock #Reposition dock #Dock #Position #Hide
The default macOS app launcher is the Dock, an application designed to make it as fast and as easy as possible to rapidly launch apps and manage the ones you've already opened.
Apart from that, the dock also helps you to switch between running applications very quickly and to open any file, document or folder you've added on it with a mouse click.
Because of its usefulness, having the dock appropriately configured is a good idea as it will most definitely improve your daily productivity.
Even though macOS already provides you with a simple way to turn on dock hiding and magnification, as well as changing its screen position via the right-click contextual menu, there's still the matter of customizing the auto-hide animation to fit your daily workflow.
The macOS dock does not allow you to change the hiding animation speed or delay by default, but you can do this using Dockey, a free and user-friendly app designed with this exact purpose in mind.
Moreover, the Dockey utility allows you to quickly reposition the macOS dock by clicking on the position that you want it to take at the top of the app's main screen and then saving the new settings with the help of the "Save Settings" button in the bottom left corner of the window.
As a downside, when setting the dock to the left or right screen positions on a Mac with multiple displays and separate spaces for each of them, the dock will be sent to the leftmost or rightmost display respectively. The correct way of positioning the dock in such a case would be to set it to the left or right side of the screen you are using Dockey on.
When turning on the Auto-Hide Dock option, you will also be able to customize the hiding Animation Delay and Animation Speed, with three different levels for each of them.
If you want to go back to the dock's default settings, you only have to click the Reset button, and Dockey will change everything back to the initial settings.
Although macOS provides some options to configure the dock, Dockey is an app you'd want to have on your Mac to have it properly set to match your needs to perfection.
