Many tasks require a specific set of applications and web pages to be open, but that's not a switch you can typically make at a moment's notice. If you need to alternate between tasks often, it will really slow you down.

Ditto is designed for this exact purpose. It saves your open applications and Safari tabs in a workspace, which you can switch to at any time, with a single click. You can have multiple ones, for each task, and it will even close unnecessary apps when switching to a different workspace.

Once you have opened all the applications and web pages you need for a certain project, you can capture them in a Ditto workspace. This can be updated later if you want to add or remove something, which can also be done manually.

You can have as many workspaces as you need, and the app lets you rename them so they can be easily recognized. It's worth noting that the tab saving feature only works with Safari, so you're out of luck if you use another browser.

As soon as you need to start working on a different task, just select a different workspace from the main app window or the menu bar. All applications that aren't in the new workspace will be closed, and the ones you need will be opened.

It's a really great way to avoid wasting time, and the app can even help you declutter your desktop instantly after finishing something. Just click the Close button and all apps in that workspace will be shut down automatically.

Ditto works great, and it's very easy to set up as well. If you need to go from one workspace to another frequently, it will make your life a lot easier. The only downside is the monthly subscription, which might be too much for some. In any case, you can try it out to see if it's worth the money.
