DBGlass delivers a modern looking workspace where you get to interact with your PostgreSQL databases in an intuitive manner. The project is based on the Electron framework and allows you to both view the database content, and perform editing tasks.
Right off the bat, DBGlass prompts you to establish a new PostgreSQL connection: you need to provide the server address, the database name, and a valid username together with the appropriate password.
Note that you have the option to change the default connection port, set a name for the configuration, and save it for later use. Moreover, DBGlass comes with support for SSH tunneling, and you get to use either a password or an SSH key.
Within the DBGlass main window you will be able to see all the tables included in the database in list mode, and also visualize or filter their content. Thanks to the way in which the app is organized, DBGlass is great if you need to go through large tables.
DBGlass offers you the possibility to quickly add new rows to your table, while also having the option to modify the table structure. As a result, you get to add new columns, define the associated data type, and set the default value.
For your convenience, DBGlass also integrates widgets that can help you deal with various tasks, such as adding constraints to columns or using Markdown markup for the text content.
All the changes can be previewed in real time, but keep in mind that you need to save each modification. DBGlass also integrates undo capabilities, but note that you cannot go back once you saved the adjustments.
Bottom line, DBGlass relies on the Electron framework to provide a modern looking environment where you can both visualize and query the contents of a PostgreSQL database and edit its contents.
The DBGlass app also allows you to keep your connection safe via SSH tunnelling, comes with Markdown support, and enables you to filter the data without manually writing queries.
