Graphical user interface where you get to configure multiple command line procedures and get to run any of them with a simple mouse click #Command line manager #CLI manager #Run Terminal command #Command line #Commandline #CLI
Working with the command line gives developers a lot of freedom, but can prove tedious when dealing with repetitive tasks. Command Pad offers you the possibility to create a collection of tasks that need to be run via the command line, except that you get to manage them via an intuitive graphical user interface.
Right off the bat, Command Pad prompts the user to add new commands to the app list: just add a name to make it easily recognizable and input the command. The entry will be added to the app's main window, and you can run or stop the task with a click.
Keep in mind that when configuring a task, you also get to specify if you want to run it with the sudo command and set the working directory.
You can assign a URL address (suitable when working with servers) and choose to see notifications when the task is complete. Naturally, the initial configuration can be adjusted at any time.
Within the Command Pad main window there is a start button associated with each configured job: as soon as you press the respective button, the app will begin running the task.
In the bottom area of the window you get to see the total number of configured tasks, and how many are currently running. Note that Command Pad also integrates a preview button, where you get to see the message returned by each function.
Command Pad offers you the possibility to change the tasks order, and via the Settings panel allows you to configure the environment path and set the maximum number of accepted output rows.
Bottom line, Command Pad is a great tool to have around if you find yourself running the same commands in the Terminal over and over again.
However, since Command Pad does not integrate any search tool or sorting method, you should reserve it only for the tasks that you are consistently using to avoid unnecessary clutter.
