Place a customizable analog clock on your desktop and set up alarms that can remind you of important events, with this useful OS X app #Desktop clock #Alarm clock #Desktop time #Clock #Alarm #Desktop
ClearTime is a simple application that performs two primary functions: it enables you to place a fully customizable analog clock on your Mac’s desktop, while also providing you with an easy-to-use alarm system.
The application’s most noteworthy feature, of course, is the fact that it adds an analog clock on your desktop that can be configured to suit most users’ needs.
Initially, it is displayed in a normal window, but you can disable the title bar and make the background completely transparent. The clock face can be configured to be ‘click-through’, enabling you to access items without having to move the timer out of the way.
ClearTime can make the clock float on top of all other windows, which is especially handy if the timer is ‘click-through’, as it makes it possible to keep an eye on the time while performing other tasks.
It is also possible to change the color of each one of the clock’s elements, such as the tick marks, hour, minute and second hands. However, there are no alternative styles you can use, and it is not possible to disable the second hand, which some users may find to be distracting.
You can use ClearTime to set up alarms that display notifications on your desktop and play one of the included sound alerts or a selected WAV audio file.
However, while it is possible to change the size of the desktop notifications, you cannot remove them entirely, should you wish to create a simple audio alert.
It has to be said that, in general, an analog clock seems to look much more at home on your desktop than a digital one. Of course, preferences differ, but this app is definitely worth trying out if you are a fan of old-school clocks.
