CiderTV For Mac

CiderTV is a minimalist yet very useful OS X application that can help you control your Apple TV even if you have lost the native remote. Just pair your Mac’s keyboard with the Apple TV via Bluetooth, and use CiderTV to replicate the signals usually sent by the remote.

If you have access to the native remote for the Apple TV, you can use it to navigate through the Apple TV menus. Otherwise, you must connect the Apple TV to your Mac by using a USB cable and restore it via iTunes.

In both cases, you must pair the Apple TV with your Mac’s keyboard via Bluetooth. On the Apple TV navigate to the Bluetooth Settings panel and select the appropriate entry, and then confirm the pairing on your Mac.

Within the CiderTV user interface you get to connect as many Apple TVs as you like, and once everything is in order, the app replicates the Apple Remote buttons. The CiderTV panel includes the arrow buttons that can be used for navigating menus, to adjust the volume, and so on.

CiderTV includes the OK and Menu buttons that you can use like you would do the ones on the Apple Remote. This way, you get to effortlessly control your Apple TV even if you have lost the native Apple TV remote.

CiderTV is a fairly easy to use application that can bring a lot of convenience. The setup process is essentially resumed to simply pairing the devices via Bluetooth, so it should not raise any issues.
