The ChatGPT AI bot has impressed pretty much everyone since it was made available to the public not too long ago. It shows just how much the technology has advanced, with the chatbot able to do anything from holding a conversation, writing stories, poems, or songs, and even generating and debugging code.

At the moment, the bot can be accessed on the web, via the OpenAI website. An official desktop app isn’t available, but this third-party tool can fill the gap. It’s a very simple Electron app that allows you to access the chat interface from your menu bar.

In order to access the UI, you can either click the menu bar icon or use Cmd+Shift+G. Once up, you can go ahead and type queries in the text field, and the bot will generate replies in the same window. As for what you can type, just about anything goes, as ChatGPT is designed to recognize natural language.

The bot seems quite advanced when it comes to creative tasks, showing itself capable of creative writing at a reasonably competent level. Programmers have also tried to use it for writing and fixing code, but the results can be hit-or-miss, with Stack Overflow even banning solutions generated by the bot, at least for the time being.
