Buffet is aimed at macOS users that have more than one web browser installed, and either end up using only the default one or have to manually open new tabs for links they want to view in other browsers.

When you launch the Buffet application for the first time, you will be prompted to use Buffet as your default web browser. Note that the utility will not open the links in its own interface, but rather forward it to the user-selected browser.

However, you should make Buffet your default web browser to make sure links that you try to open from various documents, email messages, and other locations will indeed go through the Buffet selector.

Before actually using the app, you must access the Buffet Preferences window via the utility’s status bar menu. Buffet will scan your system for installed browsers, and then includes all of them in the Preferences window.

To have a distinct web browser included in the Buffet selector, you must check its associated box in the Buffet Preferences window. You do not have to include all browsers, and you also get to change your default web browsing utility.

Once everything is in place, once you click on a link that would normally be automatically sent to your default browser, Buffet springs into action. The app activates a small selector panel that resembles the macOS app chooser that can be activated by the Command + Tab hotkey.

Within the Buffet selector panel, you get to see the URL address that will be opened and the list of available browsers. Take into consideration that you cannot navigate the options using your keyboard: the selection has to be made with the help of your mouse.
