Having enough free disk space on your boot drive is one of the most critical rules behind having a responsive Mac. To make sure that this is the case you have to either delete any files you no longer need manually or to use an app that can do that for you.

Avira Optimizer is a free and user-friendly macOS utility created to perform precisely that, namely to help you scan your Mac's hard drive for unneeded data such as temporary, cache and log files, and effortlessly delete them with a couple of mouse clicks.

The Avira Optimizer app comes with a minimalist user interface designed to help you go through the hard drive cleaning task in a matter of seconds.

After launching it, you have to click the "Show me" button in the middle of the main screen and then wait for the scanning process to end.

Once the scan has finished, you can either click the "Optimize" button to get rid of all cache, log, and temporary files Avira Optimizer has found, or choose what files you need it to clean.

Moreover, if you want to select the files you need Avira Optimizer to delete there is an option to do that, but, unfortunately, although you might think that clicking on the underlined number of files it has found or the disk size of the data to be deleted, you would be wrong.

To be more exact, after the scanning process has finished, you can click the cleaning brush icon to get to a selection screen where you can choose what files to delete, from user and browser cache, trash and download files, log and Xcode documents, to email and iTunes cache, as well as other junk files that can be safely removed.
