Offers you the possibility to quickly uninstall applications and the associated junk files through a simple drag-and-drop action. #App uninstaller #Uninstall app #App remover #Uninstaller #Application #Uninstall
By default, the Mac OS X uninstallation procedure is reduced to dragging and dropping the applications to the Trash. Unfortunately, this method leaves behind the preferences files, and other items required by the app to run properly.
Since these files are ultimately junk that takes up disk space unnecessarily, using an uninstaller that detects all the items associated with a certain installation is highly advisable. AppTrap is a Mac Preferences Pane that tries to make the entire process as streamlined as possible.
AppTrap is a System Preferences pane so, to install it, all you have to do is double click on the .prefPane file: the new panel will be quickly added to your System Preferences window. The next step is to open the AppTrap window and activate the service.
You can choose to do this manually but, for your convenience, AppTrap also offers you the possibility to have the service launched automatically every time you open your computer. Enabling this function is a good idea because this way you can make sure the apps are removed completely from your system at all times.
Using the AppTrap functions is extremely simple: each time you send an app to the Trash, AppTrap scans your disk for files affiliated with the utility. All the connected files will then be displayed in list mode in a popup window.
AppTrap offers you the possibility to quickly delete those files, but also enables you to keep them. Note that each detected file comes with a check box that designates if a certain item will be processed or not.
AppTrap proposes an extremely easy to use and discreet app uninstalling solution for your Mac: the Preferences Pane helps you manage the service status, and comes with a simple prompt window where you can decide which files will be deleted. The utility lacks any customization options, but it will certainly get the job done.
What's new in AppTrap 1.2.3:
- Background Process Changes:
- Fixed a memory leak that would occur when AppTrap would search the trash folder. The solution involves restarting the background process when your Mac wakes from sleep. This is currently a stopgap measure while I implement a new design that fixes the problem.
