Review the list of processes currently running on your system and send various types of signals from the comfort of the status bar. #Kill app #Kill process #BSD command #Kill #Process #BSD
AppKiller is a small OS X application that resides in the status bar and offers you the possibility to review and interact with any process running on your Mac.
Even though the project is no longer under development because it cannot be included in the Mac App Store, but it can still run on the latest macOS version and get the job done.
The Activity Monitor application that comes with any Mac OS X installation offers you the possibility to audit all running processes together with the memory, energy, disk, and network usage statistics.
However, going back the Activity Monitor user interface everytime you want to review the list of processes can prove to be tedious. AppKiller proposes an alternative solution: the list if brought to the status bar, and you get to see details about the associated user ID and PID.
Within the AppKiller main panel, you get to decide if you want to see the comprehensive list of processes or only the ones that associated with applications. By default, AppKiller will display 10 rows in its panel, but you can increase the number via the Preferences.
Worth mentioning is that AppKiller enables you to perform more actions than merely terminating the processes. In fact, you get to send various types of signals to the currently selected processes (you can select multiple entries by holding down the command key).
AppKiller is designed to help you review and manage system processes without having to go back to the Activity Monitor app in each case. The utility keeps a real-time list of active processes and enables you to send various types of signals.
Worth mentioning is that the development of the AppKiller project has stopped for quite some time, yet the app still works on the latest macOS Sierra release.
