AirVolume For Mac

AirVolume is an user friendly macOS utility designed to help you adjust the sound level using the volume keys, while streaming media with AirPlay, without having to switch to the iTunes app. AirVolume works in the background and is able to get the job done with minimal user interaction.

By default, the AirVolume application places a small icon in your status bar designed to help you access its Preferences panel. Here you can choose to launch the utility at login, to automatically check for updated versions, and to toggle the visibility of the status bar menu.

If you choose to deactivate the menu, the app’s icon will appear briefly at launch, or if you manually open the AirVolume utility. However, since AirVolume does not require any user interaction to activate its services, if you add it to the list of login items, the menu’s presence is unnecessary.

AirVolume is able to detect if the AirPlay functionality is enabled, of if iTunes is using the AirPlay tool: only then the application will take control over the volume keys, allowing you to increase or decrease the sound level for the streamed media.

Noteworthy is that, if any of these conditions aren’t met, AirVolume simply stands by and allows you to use the volume keys to control the system volume. At the same time, the utility disables itself when you quit iTunes, or stop the AirPlay streaming.

AirVolume offers you the possibility to use your media keys to control the volume of your AirPlay streamed media without making you deal with a complex workflow: the app automatically activates and deactivates itself when AirPlay is enabled, and does not require any user interaction after the initial setup.
