The default macOS clipboard retains only the most recent clipping, which can prove to be insufficient if you are frequently using the same expressions, text strings, URLs, or files. Nice Clipboard is a simple macOS app that can help you better manage your pasteboard.

The Nice Clipboard user interface is represented by a status bar menulet that comes with a resizable drop-down menu. Here you can see the list of all the text strings, URLs, or files that have been placed on your pasteboard.

On mouse over, each Nice Clipboard entry displays an auto-hiding panel where you can see the clipping type (text, URL, file, and so on), the source application, the content, the file path, and so on.

Nice Clipboard offers you the option to copy the clipping back to the macOS pasteboard, to remove it completely, or to place it in the Pinned tab for easier access. Note that when working with files, Nice Clipboard offers you the option to either open them directly, or to open the containing folder in the Finder.

Within the Nice Clipboard Settings menu, you have the option to specify how many items should be retained in the app’s history log. By default, Nice Clipboard can store an unlimited amount of entries, and will even allow duplicates.

The drawback is that Nice Clipboard does not integrate a search function, which means that if you are dealing with a large history log, finding a precise entry might be quite time-consuming.

Nonetheless, you do get to store the frequently used clippings in a separate tab, which might prove efficient if the collection is not very large. Moreover, Nice Clipboard can sync the database to other devices with the help of your iCloud account.
