Schedule Time Machine backups during specific periods, pause them when necessary, and manage everything easily from the menu bar. #Time Machine Schedule #Schedule Backup #Backup Scheduler #Time Machine #Backup #Schedule
Starting with macOS Ventura, you have the option of configuring Time Machine backup frequency, but there’s still no way to schedule them during certain intervals.
That’s exactly what Time Machine Schedule was created for. It allows you to specify exactly when these backups should take place, to make sure they don’t interfere with other tasks, affecting performance and battery life.
The app allows you to create up to five schedules. Backups can take place daily, on specific days of the week, or on weekdays only. Of course, you can set a specific time when the backup should begin.
If a backup was missed or failed, the app can try again at the earliest opportunity. When using more than one backup disk, it’s possible to rotate between them.
In case you’re not sure when your Mac will be idle, you can just pause the schedule and perform backups manually.
Aside from its scheduling feature, Time Machine Schedule provides you with an accessible way to monitor your backups at a glance. The menu bar icon shows you how much time is left until the next backup, allowing you to prepare for it if necessary.
If you’re not a fan of the timer, you can disable it altogether. You’ll still be able to see when the next backup is scheduled by clicking the menu bar icon.
Time Machine Schedule is lightweight and quite straightforward to use. It gives you more options when it comes to controlling Time Machine backups, certainly a lot more than you get from macOS by default.
It’s particularly useful if you do any kind of work that relies on your Mac having consistent performance throughout the day, which a badly-timed backup could affect.
