Organize your Spaces in a grid, where you can see all active apps, and switch to the right one using the keyboard, cursor, or gestures. #MacOS Spaces #Spaces Grid #Spaces Manager #Spaces #Grid #Organizer
Spaces in macOS are a good way to organize groups of apps, but you can easily forget what each Space was for, especially if you have a lot of them active at the same time. Navigation options are also quite limited.
Space Capsule seeks to make Spaces easier to work with. It places them all in a grid, shows active apps, allows you to name them, and simplifies navigation between them.
To get a quick overview of your Spaces, you normally have to use Misson Control. However, you can’t really tell much from here. With Space Capsule, you can use a hotkey to bring up a grid that highlights active apps in all your Spaces.
Compared to a view of the desktop, seeing these app icons is much more insightful. You can name each Space, so you’ll be able to tell what it’s for at a glance.
Once you’ve set up a hotkey, you can press it to bring up the grid, and then use arrow keys to cycle between Spaces. If you keep holding down the modifiers, once you’ve selected a Space, it will be switched to instantly when releasing the modifier keys.
You can also set up arrow key modifiers, which essentially allow you to skip a step. When you hold down the modifier and press an arrow key, the next Space is highlighted, and you can switch to it as soon as you release the keys.
Because third-party developers can’t directly manipulate Spaces in macOS, you need to visit each Space so that the app knows about it and can add it to the grid. Also, you can’t use Space Capsule to remove a Space or move windows from one Space to another.
These limitations are likely here to stay, but they’re not really that major. I wholeheartedly recommend this app to anyone who likes using Spaces in macOS, as it makes it much easier to keep track of them, along with simplifying navigation.
