Check for firmware and security updates for your Mac, and install them one by one or quickly update everything, from a simple interface. #Security Update #Update Firmware #Security Checker #Security #Update #Firmware
You can never be too safe when it comes to your Mac’s security, and the best way to keep things in line is to make sure everything is up-to-date. This can include security updates, but also firmware and other security-related settings.
SilentKnight is meant to be a one-stop-shop for all of these. It checks whether all your software is up-to-date and offers to install updates if necessary.
Automated macOS updates normally take care of most security issues, but not everyone has automatic updates enabled, and other factors, such as customizable security settings, may not be covered by these updates.
When you run SilentKnight, it checks everything, from firmware and security settings to data files and macOS malware scans. If there’s anything in need of fixing, you’ll see it immediately.
Before you run a check, it’s a good idea to update macOS to the latest version, as security updates installed by this app will require macOS to be updated first. SilentKnight can initiate a macOS update, but it’s best to run it directly from the Software Update utility.
Any available updates will be highlighted in the main window, and you have the option to install everything at once. However, if you head to the File menu, you can also install single updates; just copy their names from the main window and paste them in the right field.
As was the case for me, some security features may be disabled on your Mac, sometimes without you realizing it. If XProtect and FileVault are not active, the app will let you know.
SilentKnight is free, lightweight, and incredibly easy to use. Unless you’re convinced your Mac is perfectly secure, it’s a great idea to download it and let it run a quick check. You might find a vulnerability you didn’t know about, and they’re all very easy to fix.
