Generate a pre-structured EFI folder for OpenCore from an intuitive UI, with a config.plist based on Dortania's popular install guide #OpenCore EFI #OpenCore Configurator #EFI Folder #OpenCore #EFI #Hackintosh
If you're looking to install macOS on a non-Apple device, OpenCore is an interesting new alternative to the old Clover. It offers many advantages, such as enhanced security, better speed, and long-term stability, but it comes with one major drawback at the moment — it is very difficult to configure, as no official GUI EFI configurator is available.
Until an official utility becomes available, OpenCore Gen-X is a great tool for setting up a structured EFI Folder. Everything is handled from a simple tab-based GUI. You just have to cycle through the tabs to choose between various options and select the items to be included.
Naturally, you absolutely need to know what you're doing beforehand, but the process is a lot simpler. The configuration generated by the app is based on Dortania's OpenCore Install Guide, which is pretty much the best tutorial available for those getting started with OpenCore. Be sure to read it before attempting to create an EFI configuration.
Once you feel that you know the essentials, just select your processor type, the kernel extensions you want to include, and the firmware drivers you need. After clicking the Generate EFI button, the EFI folder will be created on your desktop with all the necessary files.
