There are plenty of apps for customizing your MacBook's notch, hiding it, or even adding a notch to older devices, but none to add some bling to it. Until now.

Notchmeister makes the notch a bit more fun, and if you're a big fan of it, this app makes it stand out even more! It adds various effects on mouseover, like glows and sparks, as well as some holiday lights for the festive season.

First off, you're going to need a 2021 MacBook Pro. The app works with other Macs as well, but you'll be provided a "genuine replacement notch", which isn't quite as good as the real thing.

After launching the app, you won't notice any changes at first. But when the cursor moves behind the notch, you'll see some cool visual effects. There are five options for now, including one that hangs some festive-looking holiday lights from your notch.

While the effects are mostly for fun, they could actually help with keeping track of the cursor while it's hidden "behind" the notch. If a few more effects were available, a relatively unobtrusive one might be great for this purpose.

Some users may also like to have decorations that are visible at all times, not just when the cursor moves under the notch. The holiday lights, for instance, would be fun to have on your screen at all times, and tons of other decorations could be added.

Notchmeister isn't meant to be anything other than a cool project that might get a chuckle out of you. However, it does go to show that there are many things that could be done with the notch as long as you have some free time and creativity.
