Cleaning up your Mac periodically to remove logs, cache files, unused language packages, or temporary files can both improve your computer’s performance and free up storage space.
Freshmac is a macOS application that aims to streamline the cleanup process: the utility evaluates your system, presents you with the results, and allows you to select the items that are to be removed manually.
Worth mentioning is that, without a subscription plan that will allow you to activate the application, you only get to see the items that are to be removed and not perform the action.
Moreover, the Freshmac adds up all the files that can be safely removed and puts a warning message in its interface. It will visually depict the severity of each type of issues by the application’s standards.
It is important to understand that the application makes these recommendations in an attempt to help you gain more space and remove the files you don’t need.
That does not mean that it is imperative to remove each of the detected items: you might want to keep your browsing history in some cases or keep certain app localizations even if you don’t use them frequently.
Once the scanning process is complete, all you have to do is click on the “Fix Safely” button, and the utility will proceed to remove all selected items. Note the Freshmac allows you to review the list of cache and logs files that are to be deleted and provides the path to each item even though it does not feature an “Open in Finder” feature.
Similarly, you get to see the unused languages files and the items that are currently in the Trash. Freshmac can also detect the web browsers installed on your system and offers you the option to remove the history and the cookies.
Freshmac also integrates an app uninstaller tool that should identify and remove all related items. Freshmac allows you to remove temporary files or delete items included in the startup apps list.
The Freshmac application is designed to handle elementary system cleanup tasks: you get to delete logs, cache, and unused languages files, empty the trash and remove the browser cookies or history.
You can also use Freshmac to uninstall apps together with all their resources files, to remove temporary items, or to review the list of startup apps.
Nonetheless, it is important to understand that not all items detected by the Freshmac app are necessarily issues: you might need to keep languages that are not frequently used, preserve logs, or maintain the browser history.
What's more, if you decide to remove the Freshmac application make sure to switch to another uninstaller tool that will completely remove all the related files, including the helper tool that will remain visible in the status bar, since Freshmac does not come with an uninstallation function for itself.
