Apple makes some locations on your startup disk rather difficult to access without changing some Finder preferences. And even then, it takes a bit of navigating in Finder to get to certain locations that some users access frequently.

Access Menu lets you get to all these important locations directly from the menu bar with just a couple of clicks. It’s designed as a time-saver and features a minimalistic interface, just a menu really, and a few options for customization.

The app runs in the menu bar, and you just need to click the icon to bring up the shortcuts menu. You can access locations in the root directory, the current user’s home folder, as well as the more accessible user folders.

The layout is very straightforward and intended to help you find what you need at a glance. You also have the option to go to a particular folder, and this location will be remembered the next time you use the feature.

All available locations are enabled and showed in the menu initially, but you can disable any that you don’t need to access on a regular basis. This can reduce the size of the menu and make it easier to navigate.

Folder icons can be hidden or made larger, indentation can be increased and decreased, and you can configure the Go to Folder function to always open a specific path.

However, it would be great if some menu items, such as About, Update, and Help, could be hidden or at least moved to the bottom of the menu. They are usually not necessary but take up space at the top of the list.

Barring the not quite ideal arrangement of some menu items, Access Menu is a great utility for users who find certain locations on their disk difficult to navigate to. It’s free, and it does the job.
