24-inch LED Cinema Display Firmware Update For Mac

The 24-inch LED Cinema Display Firmware Update addresses an issue that may cause intermittent display flickering. The 24-inch LED Cinema Display Firmware Update can only be installed on the Apple 24-inch LED Cinema Display when connected to a Thunderbolt-enabled Mac.

IMPORTANT: This firmware update may not resolve the flickering issue if a Mini DisplayPort extender cable is used.

NOTE: Some USB and FireWire devices may prevent firmware updates from installing correctly; disconnect non-essential devices and use only an Apple keyboard and mouse to apply the update.

Connect your Thunderbolt-enabled Mac to a working power source, connect only one Apple 24-inch LED Cinema Display to your Mac, and quit all applications.

Note: Make sure the USB cable you use to attach your Thunderbolt-enabled Mac to your Apple LED Cinema Display remains connected for the entire process.

Double click the "24-inch LED Cinema Display Firmware Update" to mount the disk image.

A window appears.  If you see the message "No device was detected. If you have a device in need of updating, verify it is attached and has power." then this update is not intended for your display.  Please quit the application.

Click the Update button to install the firmware. Enter the administrative password for your computer at the prompt.  Click OK.

When the update starts, the status bar in the Firmware Update window indicates the progress of the update.

When complete, a message appears to confirm that the update was successful "This device is up to date".  Click OK and quit the firmware update application.

Unplug the display power cord for 15 seconds and then plug it in again to complete the process.

Important: Do not interrupt the update. Make sure the USB cable you use to attach your Thunderbolt-enabled Mac to your 24-inch LED Cinema Display remains connected for the entire process. Some features of your display will not function while the update is running.

If the display remains blank for more than 30 seconds, unplug the display power cord for 15 seconds and then plug it in again to complete the process.

If the update fails, quit the application, unplug the display power cord for 15 seconds and then plug it in again.  Then run the firmware update again.
