Most password management solutions rely on a master password to encrypt your database and keep everything safe.
Gpass is an alternative solution that works with your Google account, which means your database will be protected by the same credentials you are using to connect to your Google account.
Note that access to a Google account is imperative to be able to use the Gpass services: you cannot register for an account any other way. At the same time, even though you can test the service for a limited time, you need to get a yearly subscription plan for continued use.
Gpass comes with a web application that can be accessed via any browser, but also sports clients for some of the most popular desktop or mobile platforms: Mac, Windows, iOS, or Android. The service also sports a native Google Chrome extension.
On the desktop size, after the initial setup Gpass logs in automatically to your account when launching the app, but you can also set a four digits pin to set up an additional protection layer for the app’s interface.
For your convenience, Gpass comes with a predefined record preset that you can quickly fill in. However, each of the included fields is editable, and you can readily add new ones. You can also choose to toggle their visibility to use the built-in password generator.
The Gpass records can also have document attachments, you get to assign tags to make the entry more easy to find, and can also store text notes. All this is encrypted using the 256-bit AES algorithm.
What’s more, Gpass offers you the possibility to generate one-time links for sharing any of the records outside the application: the link can be opened in any web browser, but only one (the URL is available only for 24 hours).
Gpass enables you to connect to its service by using your Google account and helps you keep your passwords and other credentials organized, secure, and easily accessible.
The data is synced to the cloud so that you can access the database on all your devices with minimal effort. On the other hand, you can also generate one-time links that can be shared with anyone.
Nonetheless, make sure to read the Gpass Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
