Felony brings a new approach when it comes to PGP keychains and aims to make the technology readily accessible even to inexperienced users.

The Felony utility can quickly generate keys based on user provided details, can store your friends' keys, and can be used to sign, encrypt, or decrypt messages.

Right off the bat, Felony prompts you for a name, an email address, and a passphrase. Based on this information, Felony will create a new PGP key that you get to copy to your clipboard with a mouse click and share it anywhere you like.

This way, you can confirm your identity online when chatting with friends and so on. For your convenience, Felony can help you store the public keys of other users: you get to see the friends list in the app’s main window.

Note that you can choose to either sign messages using your PGP key, or encrypt messages that are to be sent to others. The difference is that, in the first case, anyone can see the message and verify the PGP key, while in the latter, only the recipient can decrypt the message.

Naturally, Felony also integrates verification and decryption capabilities, and you get to quickly copy the results on your clipboard to be shared via any medium.

You get to do all this via a minimalist desktop application that is based on Electron, Redux, and React and integrates elementary navigation options.

However, excepting the fact that the Felony window can be resized and even switched to full-screen mode, the utility does not feature any customization options.

Bottom line, Felony offers an alternative solution for quickly generating or verifying PGP keys. You also get to quickly sign your own messages, encrypt content for specific users, or decrypt messages sent by others.
