AppLocker For Mac

If you are sharing your Mac with other people, restricting access to certain utilities can be necessary for various reasons. AppLocker is a small utility that enables you to set an additional protection layer on any app.

Right off the bat, AppLocker prompts you to set a master password that will be stored in the keychain and is required whenever you want to access the app’s interface or launch any of the protected utilities.

Note that the AppLocker master passkey can be changed at any time via the associated status bar menu. The same area allows you to configure the app to launch at login automatically, provides a list of the protected apps, and includes management capabilities.

Whenever you try to launch one of the apps included in the AppLocker list, the app will automatically cover the entire screen prompting you for the passkey. The respective utility will launch as soon as you provide the correct key.

At the same time, to cancel the process, just press the Option + Command + Q keyboard shortcut (you will be able to see the combination details in the top left corner of the panel).

Note that AppLocker automatically locks the administrative applications, but you can easily add new apps to the list via the built-in lock manager: for your convenience, the manager can display only the currently running apps.

Bottom line, AppLocker is great to have around if you are sharing your Mac with others and you want to make sure you are protecting your privacy.

AppLocker asks for the master password whenever you try to access its interface, but in the case of all other apps, this happens only when launching the utilities (if you leave any of the protected apps running, the AppLocker lock is rendered useless).
