SpeedS@ver is a fun screensaver for fans of retro games, regardless of their preferred platform: NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, GameBoy, VirtualBoy, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, PlayStation, MegaDrive, and so on.

The SpeedS@ver screensaver downloads games speed runs that have been recorded by various players and puts them on your desktop.

The SpeedS@ver screensaver integrates within your system like any other software solution of its kind, and you must navigate to the Desktop and ScreenSaver panel in your System Preferences to activate it.

The same area offers you the possibility to configure various details related to the screensaver’s performance and behavior: you can mute the recording’s audio or choose to stream the videos instead of downloading.

SpeedS@ver provides a list with all supported platforms, and how many videos are available in each case, and you must check the ones for which you want to download videos. You can set a limit for the download’s quality: 1080p, 720p, high, medium, or low.

When active, SpeedS@ver will automatically load a video and continues playing it each time the screensaver gets activated again until the recording is over. Most likely, you will have to wait for the video to load the first time.

SpeedS@ver plays the recording in full-screen mode, and when the video starts, you get to see details about the game title, the player’s name, the playing time, and the rerecord count.

SpeedS@ver can give a retro touch to your Mac by enabling you to watch other players speed run through game titles available on some of the most popular video game consoles.
