Java-based app that simulates a heater controlled by various algorithms #Simulate heater #Heater simulation #Heater simulation #Simulate #Simulator #Heat
PID Controller Simulator is a free and open-source app that simulates the temperature evolution of a virtual heating element. The temperature of the virtual heater is measured by a virtual thermistor.
The power applied to the heating element can be controlled by various controller algorithms, which try to maintain a certain target temperature.
The application can be used to compare the performance of the algorithms or to optimize their parameters.
The green line indicates the target temperature, the blue line indicates the temperature of the heater and the red line indicates the percentage of the maximum power applied to the heating element.
Detailed instructions on how to install and use the PID Controller Simulator utility on your Mac are available HERE.
PID Controller Simulator is a cross-platform utility capable of running on any operating system that comes with Java support (e.g. Mac OS X, Windows, Linux).
