JHashCode For Mac

JHashCode is a Java based application that offers you the possibility to quickly generate hash codes for any file or folder using six different algorithms. The utility can also compare the generated hash with another string provided by the user.

JHashCode comes with drag and drop support, but also provides support for navigating your drive via the Finder menu. Before generating the hash, you must select the algorithm you want to use: MD2, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-348, or SHA-512.

If you choose to process single files, once you press the Generate Hash button, JHashCode will automatically display the code within the app’s main window.

On the other hand, when dealing with folders, JHashCode will prompt you to learn if you want the app to scan the included subfolders. Moreover, you must decide if the algorithm for scanning subfolders should be recursive or non-recursive.

JHashCode will detect all included files, including the hidden ones, and will generate a separate hash for each item.

In both cases, JHashCode will allow you to save the generated hash to a file or choose to copy it to your clipboard for easy sharing.

The JHashCode application can also be used as a verification tool since it can compare the generated hash codes with the ones provided by the user.

Just direct the app to the file you want to check, input the received hash code in the appropriate field, select the algorithm used to generate the hash, and then try to recreate the code.

JHashCode will let you know if the two hash codes are identical or not. This way you can effortlessly find out if you are using the original file or not.
