Simple, two-tabbed web browser for OS X. #Web browser #Internet browser #Browse web #Web #Browse #Browser
The Internet provides everything for us, all and conventional browsers are a solid part of our everyday life, because through them we tend to our businesses, relationships, communication, information handling and whatnot. They are of immeasurable value to just about everyone, because they're time, money and life savers.
So it comes as little surprise when people make it nice and tidy by minimizing or maximizing (depending of the task) the array of plugins and extensions their browsers have, in order to improve workload and provide better flow. Those couple of milliseconds worth of response time add up as well, so more and more adequate solutions appear on the market or through the portal of open source.
Wyattbrowser is such an example, aiming to be a lightweight and fast alternative.
You can use and edit some embedded bookmark slots, that already have some predefines sites, but that's about all that it offers in regards to bookmarks. It lacks the possibility to record or access any history windows, and when it comes to multi-tab support, you are allowed to open only two at a time. Bookmarks are non-existent as well.
It does provide an integrated basic printer you can export or convert web pages to .pdf and .ps (PostScript) formats, as well as physical printing through a connected device.
It utilizes just about the same amount of memory as a conventional browser, sometimes a bit less, but many times you'll find the lack of features simply in the way of smooth sailing.
If your OS is different than the one specified by the developer you may run into some pretty bad compatibility and format-reading issues, as videos or gifs won't play. Some actions can also result in a straight-up crash.
The zoom apparently applies only to the font, not the page elements as well, since images have an offset, awkward arrangement.
It may not be the bird with the most feathers, but it sure is a fast and supple. While some would consider it a dealbreaker for good reasons, because there are more flexible alternatives out there, it can fulfill certain purposes better.
If you are a casual,or power user in need of features and flexibility, you're probably better off picking something more suitable, even if it means having a more cluttered interface and slightly slower page loading time.
However, at the same time you could say that in the right context, the lack of features could be compensated by its high speeds, like Internet sales or auctions where quick fingers and browsers really matter to give you the edge.
