WhatRoute For Mac

WhatRoute is a very easy to use macOS application that provides a graphical user interface for various functions designed to help you analyze and monitor internet traffic.

Most of its features are commands supported by the Terminal app, but WhatRoute allows you to use them without having to deal with the command line.

Working with WhatRoute is quite intuitive because most of its functions can be easily accessed via the app’s main window. The main window contains a small bar right on top, where you must input the name or the IP address of the destination host.

The next step is to select the query type you want to perform from a drop down menu placed on the right side of the address bar.

The WhatRoute application will display the results in the bottom area of the main window. Note that, depending on the query you want to launch, WhatRoute provides different customization options.

WhatRoute is able to trigger the following functions: trace, ping, query, finger, whois, address scan, port scann, and autonomous systems. The application is also using the MaxMing GeoLite City IP geolocation databases to create a graphic representations for various functions.

If you have the Google Earth application installed on your Mac, you can transfer the WhatRoute results in order to view them on a higher resolution.

In a nutshell, WhatRoute is a good choice if you want to perform traffic diagnosis inquiries without having to use the command line. The utility provides a clean and organized interface, and enables you to trigger various types of queries for any host or IP address you want.
