WebTorrent For Mac

WebTorrent is a minimalist yet very powerful streaming torrent client that offers you the possibility to start watching videos right away, without waiting for the entire torrent to download.

The WebTorrent utility comes with three predefined torrents that you can interact with, but you can quickly add new entries either by dragging and dropping a torrent file in the appropriate area or by pasting the associated magnet link.

When you hover you mouse on top of a torrent entry, you will be able to see the play, download, and remove buttons. Note that both the play and the download buttons will send the video to your default Downloads directory.

WebTorrent allows you to see how many peers are currently connected, the download and upload speed, how much is left for the transfer to complete, and the total file size. Once the download is complete, WebTorrent will automatically start seeding the video.

The difference between the play and the download buttons is that, when you go for the Play button, WebTorrent will automatically launch a player window where you can watch the video content directly.

WebTorrent offers you the possibility to watch the video in full-screen mode, but can also detect the Chromecast devices connected to your network and forward the streaming at the press of a button.

The WebTorrent project is designed to bring a streaming torrent client to the web browser, but the WebTorrent desktop app allows you to access the same capabilities in a standalone utility.
