SynoTool For Mac

SynoTool is a minimalist macOS application designed to help you monitor the status of any Synology device connected to your network. The app can work with Synology NAS or router devices as long as they use the DMS 6 software version.

Upon launch, SynoTool places its menulet icon in the status bar, and you are invited to create a connection with a NAS device by providing the host address together with your credentials (username and password).

Within the SynoTool configuration panel, you get to see if the connection has been established and choose to start the application at login to avoid any repetitive actions.

If everything is working properly, you will be able to see details about the Synology device in the SynoTool status bar panel.

In the SynoTool main panel, you get to see the device name, if you are using an admin account, together with details about the system, such as the device configuration, the firmware version, the up time or the system temperature.

Moreover, you can see if there are any USB devices connected, the current status both for the system and for the disk, and the CPU load for the user, system, and IO.

As far as the volumes are concerned, SynoTool provides information about their name, status, size and free space. The app can also monitor the active connections and enables the user to see the IP address and service type for each connection.

Note that if you have installed the Synology Download Station application, SynoTool can also provide data about download tasks and integrates management capabilities: you can pause or resume transfers, or configure new jobs.

Bottom line, SynoTool is a small application that proves useful only if you have Synology NAS or router devices connected to your network.

In this case, the SynoTool app allows you to monitor their status and get connection details in an unobtrusive manner, via your status bar.
