Stripes is a stylish feed reader that enables you to manage multiple subscriptions and stay on track with your favorite news sites. The app can import individual feeds, or you can load entire databases in no time by using the OPML file format.
The Stripes user interface is organized into three main columns: on the left, you get to see the feed list, and right next to it the list of articles associated with the currently selected subscription.
Most of the Stripes space is reserved for viewing the article’s description, but keep in mind that you will not have access to the entire content: just click on the link placed in the top area of the window, and Stripes will open the page in your default web browser.
To gain more space, Stripes can switch to the mini-sidebar mode, but in that case, you will not be able to see the feeds separately. Instead, you will view the predefined smart folders that keep track of all articles, all unread posts, or starred entries.
For your convenience, when you manually add a subscription, Stripes will automatically detect all available feeds and allows you to choose which one you want to see. To gain more time, you can also import or backup your subscriptions collection by using the OPML file format.
Stripes is able to handle RSS, RDF, and Atom feeds, allows you to rearrange the subscriptions with drag and drop, and comes with a built-in search tool. Moreover, you can quickly share any of the titles on your configured social media accounts, by email, and so on.
Note that Stripes comes with predefined hotkeys for most of the functions, but does not sport any customization options. Moreover, the fact that you cannot organize subscriptions into folders might prove problematic if you have an extensive feeds collection.
To sum up, Stripes brings to the table a beautiful environment where you get to review all the new articles posted on your favorite websites. The reader integrates sharing capabilities, but keep in mind that you need to navigate to your web browser to see the entire post.
Even through Stripes certainly gets the job done, the utility does not feature any customization options when it comes to changing keyboard shortcuts or adjusting the interface appearance and does not provide support for organizing your feeds into folders.
