sTunes (formerly Streaming for SoundCloud) proposes an alternative solution for interacting with the SoundCloud music sharing service without having to clutter your browser and waste time whenever you want to see details about the current track or control the playback.

To help you get started, the sTunes welcome panel takes you through all essential features, such as the possibility to switch between the desktop and mini controller mode.

Note that you can browse the SoundCloud website with or without an account, just like you would do in a web browser. However, working with an account means that you get to create and access playlists a lot faster.

If you switch to the mini player, though, you are limited to managing the current playlist and controlling the playback. You get to see the track and artist name and mark it as favorite without wasting any time.

sTunes comes with a companion widget that can be easily added to the Notification Center’s Today panel. The widget features the same controls as the mini controller: a progress bar with time info about the current track, buttons to start or pause the playback, or to jump to the next or previous track.

STunes comes with system-wide hotkeys for the most frequent commands. You get to see the default combinations in the status bar menu and change them via the Preferences.

The same area allows you to toggle the notification alerts, to adjust the transparency level for the app's interface, or to activate the use of the media keys with the sTunes app to control the playback, or to jump tracks.

The SoundCloud music sharing service is a great source of interesting audio content, yet managing the playback through the web browser can prove both inconvenient and time consuming.

sTunes delivers readily accessible playback controls, while also enabling the user to fully interact with the SoundCloud website outside the browser.
