Sharing files with friends or coworkers usually implies uploading the data to a third party server and then providing the direct link to the interested parties. Snapp further simplifies the process by allowing you to transfer the files directly.

Snapp places a small menulet in your status bar, and an icon in the Dock in order to simplify the data upload process: simply drag and drop the files you want to send on top of these icons. All you have to do next is input the recipients email addresses, a small message (optional), and press the send button.

Similarly, if someone sends you a file, you will receive a notification, and in the Snapp status bar panel you must confirm or reject the transfer. As you can see, if your collaborators also use the Snapp application, transferring files between devices is very straightforward.

To make use of the Snapp application, you must first register for a free account. At the moment, the Snapp service is in beta stage, and there are certain limitations related to the maximum file size, and the number of transfers and recipients. Moreover, a monthly transfer limit is in place, with no upgrade possibility.

Snapp is using this account to be able to transfer files between users. When handling the files, Snapp automatically encrypts them using the AES-256 algorithm, and temporarily stores the data on Amazon S3 servers: when the transfer is complete, the files are erased from the servers.

Snapp offers a simplified solution for quickly transferring files between different users: once a recipients address in used within the app, the autocomplete function will become active for future transfers. Since you do not have to send URLs to interested parties, everything works faster.
