SCDownloader For Mac

SoundCloud is a popular platform for sharing audio content online and enables users to upload original music and to promote it on their own. However, to download content, you must have the poster permission, and to register for an account.

SCDownloader is a small OS X application designed to bypass the need for a SoundCloud account: simply provide the track's URL and the app will automatically transfer the audio to your disk drive.

Nonetheless, SCDownloader should not be used to extract content that is protected by copyright: make sure that the links you are feeding to the application are marked as free downloads.

The SCDownloader user interface is represented by a single panel that can be accessed through a status bar menulet. Here you can easily input the SoundCloud links for which you want to download the audio.

Since the application integrates batch processing capabilities, you can input new links before the previous ones finish downloading. SCDownloader will keep a list with the active transfers, and you get to effortlessly monitor their progress.

By default, SCDownloader will place the downloaded MP3 files in the current system user’s Download folder. In theory, via the Preferences panel you should be able to change the default output directory, but during our test we could not access the area (tried on two separate iMacs running on Mac OS X Yosemite).

Even if SCDownloader does not work flawlessly, the utility is able to get the job done. Naturally, the transfer speed greatly depends on the size of the audio file.

What’s more, SCDownloader is able to handle multiple downloads at the same time, which can greatly reduce the processing time on the user side.
