Readability Redux For Mac

Readability Redux is a Google Chrome add-on that offers you the possibility to read the text content on a web page while eliminating all the unnecessary elements that might distract you.

To deploy the Readability Redux add-on to your Google Chrome installation, you need to navigate to the appropriate Chrome Store page and press the Add to Chrome button placed in the top area of the page.

Readability Redux will put its icon in the address bar menu, and you can activate the custom theme with a simple mouse click. At the same time, to revert to the original view, all you need to do is reload the page.

Readability Redux virtually eliminates most graphical elements from any web page and preserves only the text. However, if the article also includes image files, Readability Redux keeps them visible.

Via the Readability Redux Options panel you get to select the theme you want to apply to the web page when activating the add-on: Newspaper, Novel, eBook, Inverse, or Athelas. At the same time, you get to adjust the font and margins size.

Other options include the possibility to convert links to footnotes, to define a hotkey for activating the service, and to apply the readability effect only on the selected text fragment. Note that you get to preview the output within the preferences panel before saving the configuration.

Bottom line, Readability Redux quickly integrates within the Google Chrome and allows you to activate its capabilities with the press of a button or by using a hotkey.
