Gather notifications from multiple sources and place them on your desktop in an unobtrusive manner in order to stay informed while not being disrupted. #Grab RSS #Grab feed #Display alert #RSS #Grab #Feed
RSS Cue is a small and unobtrusive OS X utility that tries to keep you informed without having to interrupt your work to navigate to an RSS reader, or manually interact with each notification to make it disappear.
The RSS Cue app can gather data from multiple feeds and brings them to your attention via Notification Center alerts. To be able to interact better with and close the alerts, the RSS Cue developer advises using the alternative Growl notification system.
Within the RSS Cue Preferences window, you get to add the feeds you want to monitor, and decide how you want to handle the information grabbed through each feed.
Right off the bat, just make sure that all the feeds you want to follow are enabled: RSS Cue keeps them disabled by default so that you can use the app as a bookmark manager for your sources.
The RSS Cue app allows you adjust the update interval and the maximum number of entries that are to be shown at the same time. You get to input login credentials, but keep in mind that RSS Cue can handle only “Basic” authorization tasks.
RSS Cue is designed to work in such a manner that you manage to view the information that interests you without having to move a finger: the alarms disappear on their own, and the app allows you to limit their number to avoid getting flooded.
However, the RSS Cue notification messages come with embedded links so that you can click on them and you will be directed to the source in your default web browser.
Note that RSS Cue will place all the entries in a feed in a queue, and display alerts only for a limited number of entries at once. This ensures that you won’t see too many alerts at one, yet some of them might end up in the queue forever.
RSS Cue tries to provide a user-friendly and nonintrusive solution that will keep you up to date without making you interrupt your work.
The app connects with the Notification Center for the alerts, but all the feeds management and configuration tasks are handled via the app’s Preferences.
