The Pydio project provides support for businesses that require a secure solution for their team members to share documents and make sure they always have access to the latest version. The files can be stored in a private cloud and then synced to all devices.
The PydioSync application is the desktop side companion that helps you connect to the server and configure the synchronization process. However, to be able to use the app you need the server’s address and login credentials.
PydioSync comes with SSL support, so you can connect to the server using the HTTP or HTTPS protocols. For the process to be successful, the Pydio software has to be installed on the server side, and the Check Sync function has to be configured correctly. You can learn more about the latter in the Pydio documentation.
The PydioSync app comes with few customization options, but you do get to adjust the update frequency. You also have control over certain logging parameters: change the file name, set the number of log files or size restrictions, or specify the area of interest (Info, Debug, Warning).
The PydioSync client allows you to adjust the timeout period for local database access, and enables you to change the interface language.
Once you establish a server connection, PydioSync offers you the possibility to start syncing workspaces or only certain subdirectories and pause and resume the transfers. Once you have configured the sync task, PydioSync will resolve any conflicts on its own.
PydioSync provides control over the synchronization frequency and direction and allows you to adjust the rules for dealing with transfer conflicts. Note that you can also review the logs to identify possible issues.
Bottom line, PydioSync offers you the possibility to configure and manage your Pydio server synchronization tasks from the comfort of your status bar, while also delivering extensive control over the sync configuration and logging functions.
What's new in PydioSync 1.2.8:
