Poster delivers the same Instagram mobile experience on your desktop computer so that you won’t have your interaction limited by your current device. The app is an Electron-based wrapper for the website and has been created with the help of the Nativefier project.

Right off the bat, Poster prompts you for your Instagram credentials, and you need them to navigate to your Home panel. Even though by default Poster preserves the mobile size for the window, you do get to resize it to better match your desktop space.

Within the app’s window, you will be able to see suggestions, decide to follow other users, read or post comments, mark entries as favorites, report images as inappropriate, or get the embed code on your clipboard.

In the bottom area of the Poster main window, you get to see buttons for the search panel, to switch to the upload panel, to review your favorites list, or to review your profile page (you can even switch to edit mode).

Poster offers you the possibility to upload an image file stored on your desktop computer to your Instagram account just like you would do on the mobile device. You get to preview the photo, rotate the image and add a caption.

The new image will be directly sent to your wall and others will be able to see, post comments, or mark it as favorite. However, you don’t have the option to download images even from your posts.

To sum up, Poster is an Electron-based application that enables you to connect to your Instagram account on the desktop side to post images or comments, manage your profile, start following other users, mark entries as your favorites, and so on.
