MediumDesk offers you the possibility to keep the Medium.com website on your desktop without having to go through a fully featured web browser, which means that you reduce the browser clutter while directing your resources to other tasks.
Since MediumDesk just grants access to the Medium.com platform outside the browser, working with the utility is quite intuitive. MediumDesk comes with a couple of hotkeys that can further streamline your experience.
Within the MediumDesk main window, you get to see the Medium.com platform in its integrity and interact with the various areas just like you would do in a browser.
Naturally, to personalize your experience, you can quickly log into your account and view stories that interest you or explore new subjects. Keep in mind that all service customization option are linked to your account.
In fact, if you try to personalize MediumDesk by launching the app’s Preferences panel, you will instantly be logged out from your Medium.com account. You cannot change the interface theme, modify the default keyboard combinations, or perform any other adjustment.
You can browse the Medium.com website by using your mouse, yet via the MediumDesk File menu, you also get to jump to specific areas with a simple mouse click.
You can start a new story, switch to the search bar, go to the Home wall, view your drafts, stories, or stats, open the bookmarks or publications panels, see your current profile, or open the Settings panel.
All these options come with predefined keyboard shortcuts that prove to be quite easy to memorize. Note that MediumDesk also provides support for other common tasks, such as switching to the full-screen mode, minimizing or closing the app window, and more.
Worth mentioning is that the MediumDesk app is not the official Medium.com desktop client and that it has been developed by a community member.
MediumDesk enables you to interact with the Medium.com website in a straightforward manner, yet it lacks some of the browser advantages, such as the possibility to open multiple tabs or to navigate back and forth.
